The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) has issued the 125th edition of its Quarterly Bulletin on the Performance of Arab Capital Markets, providing an overview of the key developments across Arab financial markets during the second quarter of 2026.
The bulletin showed that most Arab stock markets recorded improved performance during the quarter, with thirteen Arab exchanges posting gains, while only three recorded declines. The AMF Arab Composite Index registered a slight quarterly decline of 0.16% compared to the end of the first quarter of 2026, while recording year-on-year growth of 1.08%.
The Tunis Stock Exchange recorded the strongest performance among Arab markets, with its main index rising by 29.28%, followed by the Egyptian Exchange (11.40%), the Dubai Financial Market (9.59%), and the Damascus Securities Exchange (9.32%). Meanwhile, the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) and the Muscat Stock Exchange recorded the largest declines during the period, falling by 4.00% and 8.09%, respectively, while the Iraq Stock Exchange declined by 0.61%.
The total market capitalization of Arab financial markets declined by 0.59%, equivalent to USD 25.72 billion, reaching approximately USD 4,316.88 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2026, compared with approximately USD 4,342.60 billion at the end of the first quarter. In contrast, the value of traded shares increased by 8.70%, reaching approximately USD 292.46 billion, compared with USD 269.03 billion during the first quarter of 2026.
The bulletin noted that the performance of Arab financial markets was influenced by several factors, including economic and geopolitical developments, movements in oil prices, varying liquidity levels, ongoing global trade tensions, and the impact of monetary policies and elevated interest rates on market performance. Advanced financial markets continued to post positive performance during the second quarter of 2026, while emerging markets showed mixed results. Meanwhile, the MSCI Arab Index declined by 1.63%.
