Arab Finance Ministers Discuss Fiscal Policy Priorities, Artificial Intelligence, Sustainable Finance, and International Tax Developments
The Arab Finance Ministers Council holds its 17th regular meeting on Monday, 28 September 2026, in Abu Dhabi, organized by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), in conjunction with AMF’s Golden Jubilee and the 50th anniversary of its establishment.
The meeting takes place under the chairmanship of H.E. Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Shibli, Minister of Finance of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Chair of the current session of the Council, with the participation of Arab Ministers of Finance or their representatives. Representatives of the League of Arab States and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, as well as Arab Executive Directors at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, also participate as observers. AMF serves as the Secretariat of the Council since its establishment.
The Council discusses “Public Finance in Arab Countries: Diagnosis and Policies,” as AMF presents the overall framework of its new annual report and its key preliminary findings ahead of the publication of the first edition in May 2027. The agenda also includes presentations on the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence in fiscal policy, sustainable infrastructure finance, and the latest international tax developments related to base erosion and profit shifting. The Council also discusses the coordination of Arab countries’ positions toward the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group ahead of their upcoming Annual Meetings.
H.E. Dr. Fahad M. Alturki, Director General Chairman of the Board of the AMF, emphasizes that the meeting strengthens dialogue and coordination of Arab positions on fiscal policy priorities, in line with AMF’s strategy and its role as a trusted policy advisor to its member countries. H.E. also expresses his appreciation to the United Arab Emirates for hosting the meeting and for its continued support of AMF.
