Arab Economic Database

The Arab Economic Database contains time series covering various economic sectors, with data for some topics dating back to 1970. Drawing on official statistics issued by the relevant authorities in Arab countries and collected through a dedicated questionnaire, the database serves researchers and decision-makers.

About img

The Arab Economic Database (AEDB) was launched in December 2014 and contains time series covering six economic sectors. It provides statistics on gross domestic product by expenditure component and economic activity, the direction and composition of foreign trade, balance of payments compiled in accordance with the fifth edition of the Balance of Payments Manual, money and banking, and government finance statistics, alongside a dedicated section on cross exchange rates.

Economic data are collected through a questionnaire distributed to Arab countries as part of the preparation of the Joint Arab Economic Report. Where statistics are unavailable from the relevant national authority, international institutions are used as secondary data sources.
