Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) releases the Briefed English version of the Joint Arab Economic Report (JAER), 2017. The Report presents an overview of economic developments in the Arab countries. It starts with a brief review of the global economic performance in Chapter 1 followed by economic and social developments in Arab countries in Chapter 2. Chapters 3 and 4 deal with the developments in the agricultural and the industrial sectors in Arab countries respectively, while Chapter 5 focuses on developments in oil and energy sectors.

Chapter 6 reviews public finance developments, while Chapter 7 addresses developments in monetary policy, banking and capital markets. Chapter 8 outlines developments in international and intra-regional trade, and Chapter 9 highlights developments in the balance of payments, external public debt, and exchange rates in Arab countries.

The thematic chapter of the report “Chapter 10”, addresses " The Role of Economic Reforms in Supporting Economic Growth in Arab Countries". Chapter 11 sheds lights on Arab Development Assistance. Chapter 12 focuses this year on “the Arab Cooperation in the Field of Road Transport". Chapter 13 highlights major developments in the Palestinian economy. Finally, tables relevant to each chapter are annexed to the report.

It is worth mentioning that, the JAER is an annual report on economic developments in the Arab countries prepared jointly by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), the League of Arab States (LAS), and the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC). The Arab Monetary Fund has responsibilities for editing and publishing the JAER since 1980.
