Joint Annual Seminar

Since the late 1980s, the Arab Monetary Fund and the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development have collaborated on organizing a Joint Annual Seminars, to be held in rotation in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait. Each year the seminar deals with a subject that is pertinent to Arab development in various economic and financial sectors. The working papers are prepared and presented by noted international and Arab experts, along with academicians and government officials. Following is the list of these seminars: 
 

  • Public Finance Reform in the Arab Countries. Held in Abu Dhabi, 22-33 May 2005 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Arab Women and Economic Development. Held in Kuwait, 20-21 October 2003 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Labor Market and Unemployment Problems in the Arab Countries. Held in Abu Dhabi, 2-3 November 2002 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Financial and Social Impact of Private Sector Financing of Social and Basic Infrastructure. Held in Kuwait, 23-24 September 2001 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • The Financial Sector in the Arab Countries and Future Challenges. Held in Abu Dhabi, 2-3 April 2000 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • The Role of the Private Sector in the Arab Economies. Held in Kuwait, 11-12 April 1999 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Human Resource Development and Economic Growth in the Arab Countries . Held in Abu Dhabi, 17-18 May 1998 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • The Role of State in the New Arab Economic Environment . Held in Kuwait, 4-5 March 1997 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Social Impact of Economic Reform in the Arab Countries . Held in Abu Dhabi, 17-18 January 1996 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Impact of the GATT on Arab Economies. Held in Kuwait, 17-18 January 1995 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Fiscal Policies and Arab Capital Markets. Held in Abu Dhabi, 25-26 January 1994 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Prospects of Arab Economies in the 1990s. Held in Bahrain, 1-3 February 1993 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD), IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Arab Countries International and Intra-trade Policies. Held in Abu Dhabi, 27-29 January 1992 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD).

  • Investment Policies in the Arab Countries. Held in Kuwait, 11-13 December 1989 in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD).
