Conference on "Increasing access to credit in MENA through effective financial Infrastructure"
The Arab Monetary Fund and the International Finance Corporation, in cooperation with the Central Bank of Bahrain and the MENA Center for Investment, are organizing a Conference on “Increasing access to credit in MENA through effective financial Infrastructure”, on the 21st of November at Sofitel Hotel in Manama, Bahrain. The opening remarks will be delivered by officials from the organizing institutions.
A number of senior representatives from Arab Ministries of Finance and Central Banks, as well as various financial institutions and private entities from the region will attend this workshop that will focus on various aspects of financial infrastructure and its importance for the development of the MENA economies.
Global Credit Bureau and Secured Transactions Experts will present various examples from other markets that implemented financial infrastructure reforms effectively. They will explain the concept of secured lending and mechanisms of credit reporting, and providing best practices in developing both credit and collateral registries globally and in the MENA region.
The one-day Conference is part of the Arab Secured Transactions Initiative (ASTI), launched recently by the Arab Monetary Fund and International Finance Corporation, with the aim of raising awareness and promoting best practices in the area of secured lending, harmonizing secured lending systems in the MENA region and encouraging the use of the movable collateral to secure financing for the benefit of the Micro, Small and Medium sized Enterprises (MSMEs), mitigate the risk and limit the credit concentration.
